HULL, UK – 23 March 2026 — In a landmark decision that will secure the future of local grassroots sports and community well-being, Kingswood Sports CIO has today been approved for a Community Asset Transfer (CAT). This historic agreement marks the first transfer of its kind within the City of Hull, officially placing the stewardship of Kinloss Garth Playing Fields into the charity's hands.

Kingswood Sports CIO is the charity behind Kingswood United FC and Kingswood Knights ARLFC, and is proud to be at the heart of the Bransholme and Kingswood communities. Kinloss Garth sits at the heart of a proud community that has faced its share of historical challenges, making this transfer about far more than just sport. It guarantees that the pitches and facilities will remain a permanent, community-led sanctuary dedicated to raising aspirations, promoting physical and mental health, and providing a safe, supportive environment for local residents of all ages.

Powered by an incredible network of over 240 dedicated local volunteers and 1,000+ members, the club runs inclusive sports programmes for everyone, from 4-year-olds taking their first touches in the Ballerz Soccer Schools and Squires Rugby sessions, right through to the Men's and Ladies' senior teams.

Mike Corlyon, Chair of the Board of Trustees for Kingswood Sports CIO, said:

"This is a monumental day for the Kingswood Sports family and the entire City of Hull. Being granted this Community Asset Transfer for Kinloss Garth is a testament to the relentless hard work, passion, and belief of our volunteers, players, and members. We know that the area faces its share of challenges, which is exactly why securing this land is so vital. It ensures that every child and adult in our community has a permanent, safe, and inclusive place to play sports, build lifelong friendships, and improve their well-being. This is a victory for the community, by the community."

Paul Richardson, Chairman of Kingswood United FC, highlighted the importance of this development:

"This is a massive step forward for the club. We’ve built a strong foundation with our community room and welfare facilities, but securing the site unlocks the funding to dream bigger. It paves the way for all-weather pitches, hot food facilities, and expanded daytime programmes. Ultimately, this is about transforming our home so we can get even more of the community engaging with sports, no matter the weather or the day of the week."

Mickey Hoult, Kingswood Knights ARLFC Chairman, added:

"Facilities have always been a challenge for us as a club, simply because our community has grown much faster than the spaces we can access or afford. For the Kingswood Knights, this CAT is an absolute game-changer."

The Kingswood Sports team will now oversee the long-term management of the Kinloss Garth site. They will work hand in hand with residents to ensure the facilities continue to break down barriers to participation and serve the true needs of the Hull community.

Kingswood Sports CIO extends its deepest gratitude to Hull City Council— specifically Councillors Ross, Dad, Neal, Pritchard, and local NCO Jo Nielsen and other local council officials- for their forward-thinking approach in championing grassroots sports, and to every parent, player, member, sponsor, and supporter who has backed the charity's vision since its inception.
